Well, what seems like so long ago, we took a trip to Paris for some inspiration for our Hogarth Spring Summer 16 Collection. It was a fun filled four days where we literally walked, what felt like the full length of Paris looking for ideas and new designers to inspire us! We are not exaggerating either; there were a lot of blisters by day 4 which had to be securely taped up for our journey home. However it was totally worth it as we had one of our best inspirational trips to date.
Day 1 – After our very early start (3am) and a Bloody Mary followed by a water chaser we arrived in Paris for 10am and after dumping the luggage off at our hotel we set off into to town to visit Tranoi trade show. We found some lovely new designers here and it was bursting with so many ideas that we had to sit outside in the glorious sunshine and scribble and brainstorm over a bagel (I know – it’s a hard life).
Day 2 – We got up super early and grabbed a croissant and a coffee to go and marched down to The Box trade show where we met up with our friends at Lola Rose, Echo Design and Glen Prince to see how they were and also check out the other stands. We found more incredible talent, especially handbag designers which have given us so many ideas for our next Hogarth handbag collection. We then hotfooted it down to one of the most picturesque settings ever for a trade show – the Tuileries Garden. We walked into the joined white marquee tents where it was an absolute feast for the imagination. Inside were 3 sections; Paris Sur Mode, Don’t Believe The Hype and Premier Classe. We hope to showcase our Hogarth scarf collections at one of these shows for the whole of Paris and beyond to see.
Day 3 – After a slightly later start (well it was Sunday and we had been attending a fun Parisian birthday party the night before) we headed to Capsule show! It was a beautiful day so we popped the sunglasses on and walked the few blocks to our destination. We met a fantastic New York Company called Donnie Charm and the wonderful Karen Mabon and Hillary Grant from Scotland who both had some incredible scarves and accessories on show. We might be showcasing some of these and more soon on our retail site – www.murray-hogarth.co.uk – so watch this space.
Day 4 – The feet were bandaged, the make up was on to cover the late night bags and our cases were bulging with catalogues, and flyers, inspirational fabrics and scarves and we set off for the one more stop before the Airport, The Louvre. We checked out Mona of course and some other very famous items whilst taking cheeky snapshots of all paintings that we really thought help us with our colour palettes for Spring Summer 2016. Even some of the ceilings and architecture here was enough to fill our heads with print ideas and layouts for our scarves! Everywhere you look in Paris there is some form of inspiration.
We arrived into Edinburgh at 10:30pm and picked up the car and were looking forward to a quick drive home to bed, as we were exhausted. However as you know our trips are always eventful near the end, although this time we did get to the airport on the correct day (bonus) my car had a flat tyre on leaving Edinburgh and we had to all pile in the AA tow truck for what felt like a long road home – it is never boring and always fun with us!
Enjoy our selected images from our trip and look out for our Spring Summer 16 Collection coming soon….
